Telemark Nordic Club will host an NCCP Biathlon Community Gold Coaching workshop

Telemark is pleased to offer an NCCP Biathlon Community Coaching Gold “Leader” course. The Gold coaching course provides training for coaches who will be leading community biathlon programs (i.e. Biathlon Bears, masters programs, recreational programs) and serves as the starting point for club head coach training.

When

Saturday Aug 29 – 8:30 – 6:00

Who:  

This course is designed to help train new coaches on the logistical requirements of running a seasonal program such as Biathlon Bears. No experience previous experience racing, participating or coaching biathlon is required. Parents, supporters and athletes who will be coaching biathlon are strongly encouraged to enroll!

Description:

This course will be in a classroom-based setting and covers:

  • Review of the planning and logistical requirements involved in planning a season
  • Review of the Safety and Liability requirements of running a biathlon program
  • Review of the developmental needs of participants in the Biathlon Bears program
  • Emergency Planning and Risk Analysis
  • Biathlon Bears Program Overview

Important:

  1. All registrants must be members of Biathlon Canada.
    1. Registration can be completed here: http://biathloncanada.ca/membership/
  2. All registrants must be 14 years or older
  3. Electronic course materials will be provided. A laptop or print-out should be brought to the course.
  4. Please bring a pen and paper

Schedule (tentative):

Saturday Aug 29:

  • 8:30-12:30 In class work
  • 12:30 – 1:00 Lunch
  • 1:00 – 6:00 in class work

Breaks will be included!
