Julia will be racing in Charlo, NB with Team BC this week at the Canadian National Championships.  She will be there with Telemark athletes Jasper, Colton, Natalie, Danica and Kira.

To my Telemark Family,

I’ve finally had a chance to catch my breath after what feels like, the busiest season of my career!

A Cole’s Notes version of World Cup results this season:

– Two top-10 individual performances
– Six top-20 results
– Four top-30 individual performances.
– Currently ranked 38th in the World. (Hopefully even a little higher after next week’s World Cup’s in Oslo!)
– Officially an Olympian 🙂

Looking back, I can’t complain.  It has been my most successful season to date! What results don’t show was how much fun I had, the friendships that were made, and the immense sense of pride I carried representing Canada. Of course, the season’s pièce de résistance was competing at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. It was an experience I will hold close to my heart and will never forget. It gave me a renewed sense of patriotism and reminded me how lucky we are to live where we do.

With the last World Cup weekend of our season starting tomorrow (Biathlon Canada, along with other Nations, are not attending events in Russia due to non-compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency), I would like officially announce that they will be the last World Cup races of my career. I will finish my career at Canadian National Championships back with my home province and club.

I will be transitioning into full-time student life at UBC Okanagan with the goal of applying to dentistry school. You’ll still find me on the trails (probably even still on roller-skis from time to time!) and hopefully helping to bring up the next generation of racers.

Thank you for believing in this life long dream and goal. Not only am I forever grateful that you helped make the dream a reality, but I feel so fortunate to have had such wonderful people be a part of the journey. Your kindness and generosity is something I look forward to passing on to future skiers.

Please stay in touch, and don’t hesitate to ask for anything you may need. As I said, I am forever grateful for your support!

See you on the trails!

Yours in sport,

Julia Ransom
