The courses are presented in the Community Room of the West Kelowna RCMP Detachment, which is located at 2390 Dobbin Rd, West Kelowna. It is on the left side between Gellatly Rd and Old Okanagan Hwy as you enter West Kelowna, southbound, on Hwy 97. The classroom contains a bathroom, sink, fridge and microwave for convenience.

The Non Restricted course is one day long and starts promptly at 8:00 am,  ending around 6 pm. The Restricted course is one day long and starts at 8:00 am, ending around 3 pm.

The presentation time for the Non Restricted course is 8 hrs and for the Restricted course is around 5 hrs. This is exclusive of exam time and is dependent on the number of students in attendance. There will be a lunch break and students can bring their own lunch or dine at one of several nearby restaurants.

The course material is presented in a multimedia format and closely follows the information contained in the course manuals. The exam phase requires the student to pass both a written and practical exam. It is an adult learning environment and participation is encouraged. Course manuals can be found online by following the links below. They can also be purchased from Mosaic books in Kelowna, or Antler Creek outfitters in West Kelowna.

At the end of the course, if the student completes the exams successfully, they will be able to apply for a Possession Acquisition Licence and will be given a PAL Application.

The cost is $150 for the Non Restricted course and $110 for the Restricted course . A $50 deposit is required, for each course, to confirm a spot on the course(s). Please bring a valid picture ID (eg: Driver’s Licence, Passport) to the course for identity confirmation as required by the Canadian Firearms Centre.
