Telemark Biathlon Mid-Season Update

The Telemark Biathlon team has participated in 2 of the 4 BC cups so far this season with outstanding results across the board from bears to masters! 

BC Cup 1 at Sovereign Lake 14-15 December. We had a record number of Telemark Nordic Club biathletes participating! The results for the Sprint races were as follows:

Novice: Madeleine Carroll 6th, William Bertrand 8th, Eloïse Akins 9th, Allie Bridge 10th, Tamiris McNern 11th, Elliot Bird 14th

Juveniles: Jasmine Hanry 5th, Tyler Lum 6th, Mika Aaserud 9th, Rowan Bird 12th, Tayte Proulx-Royds 13th, Sophie Bertrand 14th

Recreational 2: Seth Proulx-Royds 2nd, Jacob Piche 4th

Junior Boys: Timur McNern 1st

Junior Girls: Camille Hanry 10th, Catherine Robinson 12th

Senior Boys: Alex Rozek 11th

Youth Women: Kira Friesen 1st

Junior Men: Oliver Grenier 2nd

Masters Men: Steve Fenning 7th, John McNern 11th

For the January 25th-26th weekend, members of the team braved the 8-hour drive to Prince George to compete in BC Cup #2. The race had been rescheduled following the deep freeze in early January.

In Saturday’s Individual races, Telemark had the following finishes and podiums:

Novice: Tamiris McNern 6th

Juvenile: Jasmine Hanry 2nd

Junior Boys Timur McNern 2nd

Junior Girl: Camille Hanry 8th

Senior Boys: Alex Rozek 9th, Enzo Fershau 14th

Junior Men: Oliver Grenier 4th

Youth Women: Kira Friesen 1st

Masters: Steve Fenning 4th, John McNern 5th

Sunday’s Pursuit races were just as exciting, netting the following results:

Novice: Tamiris McNern 8th

Juvenile: Jasmine Hanry 1st

Junior Boys: Timur McNern 2nd

Junior Girl: Camille Hanry 3rd

Senior Boys: Alex Rozek 13th

Junior Men: Oliver Grenier 3rd

Youth Women: Kira Friesen 2nd

Congratulations to all! Thank you parents and coaches! Telemark athletes will participate in the Son of a Gun race in the Methow Valley, WA on February 8th. After the expedition to Washington USA, athletes will travel to Mount Washington on Vancouver Island at the end of February for BC Cup 4.
