We are at the half-way point of the Biathlon BC Cup circuit and Telemark has been posting some very impressive results. After a cold and snowy race weekend in Prince George, the team enjoyed a warmer and sunnier weekend at the Whistler Olympic Park this past weekend.
Prince George had some ups and downs. Biathlon is a complex sport and when everything goes right it can be amazing!
For Kira, Makenna and Rory, this was their first BC Cup race in the Senior Category carrying rifles rack-to-rack and shooting standing as well as prone. All competed very well, with Makenna placing second in the Pursuit on Sunday!
Danica had one of those amazing weekends when everything goes perfectly, and she placed first in both races! Natalie had one of those weekends where she raced strong but a couple of mistakes proved costly and ended up getting disqualified.
Colton narrowly missed the podium in the Youth Men category, placing 4th in both races.
So off to Whistler and again superb results by the team!
Our Senior Girls again pulled off several podium finishes! On Saturday, Natalie placed first and Makenna third, Danica fourth; on Sunday Natalie again placed first and Danica placed third, Makenna fourth. Kira and Rory also had excellent race weekends, again placing in the top 10 in their categories on both days. Colton once again just missed the podium with two fourth place finishes.
Danica now leads the Senior Girls BC Cup points standing. Next up: Biathlon BC Cup 3 in Burns Lake this coming weekend.
