Tree Planting Details – remember to sign up

The annual tree planting fundraiser will be held on May 28 and 29. It is open to all members of the Biathlon and Nordic Race teams, and like in the past everyone can bring parents or siblings to help.  We need parents and athletes from all programs – Bears, Development, Advanced and Adult.  This is an important fundraiser for us. Ntityix Resources LP will provide the planting bags, shovels and trees. There will be instructions at the start for all new planters and will be a good refresher for those that planted before. The rate for planting is the same as before at $.25/tree.

This year the plant will is located near Brenda Mine. Sign up times are 8:30AM and 12:30PM each day. As usual, planters should wear long pants and proper boots. Bring a lunch and water.  You can plant all day or just part of the day – but there are only two times each day when the crew will meet you to guide you to the planting site.

Please fill in the sign up sheet as soon as you can – we ask that you sign up for a whole day, or morning, or afternoon. That way we know how many bags and trees to bring. We will provide driving directions closer to the date.

Click here for a map and directions.  Basically you go up the Connector (approx 25km), and will soon be looking right at a cutblock in the distance.  Keep driving and at the Brenda Mine interchange, you leave the highway to the right. We will meet right there off the highway.  We will proceed to the right (to the left under the highway is the way home).  We will be planting in block 183 which is past the Dept of Highways salt shed (MacDonald Pit).  The attached map is kind of busy and the off ramp is partially hidden by text.

If you have any questions you can email Richard MacKenzie.

Special thanks to Ntityix Resources LP for making this possible – we certainly appreciate their generosity and support of Telemark Nordic Club programs!
